Vobelle began with a single word: one that didn’t exist yet but felt soft, lyrical, and expressive of the beauty its maker wanted to bring into the world. The name carries a quiet elegance, and over time it has become the perfect home for a practice centered on slow craft, intentional making, and the tactile pleasure of working with wool.

Vobelle creates unique, handmade knitwear using small batch, hand dyed 100 percent merino wool yarns made in house. Every piece begins long before the first stitch, starting in the dye pot where color, depth, and texture are built by hand. From there, the yarn is plied, dried, and prepared for knitting, ensuring that each finished piece has a softness and durability that stands apart from mill made fibers.

The collection includes scarves, cowls, hats, and wearable pieces designed for warmth, comfort, and timeless style. The finishing process is just as important as the knitting itself. Each item is gently washed, blocked, and air dried, allowing the wool to relax, open, and naturally bloom into its final form. It is a slow, meticulous practice, and those details give every piece its character.

Vobelle’s identity comes through in the interplay of color, texture, and technique. The palette is expressive without being loud, blending earthy hues with soft variations born from the hand dyeing process. Because the yarns are made in small batches, no two skeins, and no two finished pieces, are ever exactly the same. That sense of individuality is central to the brand’s feel.

Work happens between two distinct spaces in the maker’s Killingly home. The basement is the “yarn lab,” where dyeing, washing, and plying take place. Upstairs, a sunlit studio converted from a spare bedroom provides a calm, bright environment for knitting, finishing, and designing new work.
