FindingYoYo was named after a beloved cat, YoYo, who offered quiet companionship during a deeply personal time. While working in IT in Amsterdam, jewelry making began as a way for Cate to heal and reconnect with creativity. What started as a personal practice grew into a brand centered on rediscovery, finding beauty, purpose, and meaning through making.
The work focuses on refined, wearable pieces that feel soft, intentional, and emotionally grounded. Necklaces, earrings, and rings are created through beading, wiring, wax carving, and 3D modeling, with each process chosen to support detail and expression. Designs often begin with materials, allowing natural pearls, gemstones, and metals to guide the final form.
Material choice is central to the practice. Real pearls and thoughtfully sourced stones are paired with sterling silver, gold vermeil, gold filled, and solid gold. Lab grown diamonds are used with attention and emphasis on ethical sourcing. Each piece is carefully refined, with attention given to balance, proportion, and how light moves across the surface.
The work is deeply rooted in memory. Inspiration comes from small, meaningful moments, a warm croissant in Paris, a quiet walk across a green bridge in Budapest, or the playful movement of a cat. These experiences are translated into jewelry, giving each piece a subtle sense of joy and personal storytelling.
Creation happens between a basement workspace and a jewelry studio in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, where pieces move from early ideas to finished forms.
