Britta Hart

Britta Hart creates work that feels alive. Using movement and personality, Britta brings to life layered drawings and paintings where bugs, portraits, pop culture references, flowers, and everyday objects all coexist in playful, unexpected harmony. There’s an energy running through the work that feels both carefully observant and wonderfully unpolished, balancing intricate detail with scribbled spontaneity in a way that makes every piece feel unmistakably human.

Rather than building a separate identity around the work, Britta has always created under her own name, allowing the brand to evolve naturally alongside her as both an artist and a person. Over the years, that evolution has taken many forms, from creating designs that raised money for local nonprofits to commission work, gallery shows, and personal projects that gradually shaped the creative world surrounding her practice. The result feels less like a formal brand and more like an honest extension of who she is.

Working primarily in two dimensional mixed media, ink, and digital illustration, Britta draws inspiration from nearly everything around her. A pile of rubber bands, a cup of trash on an airplane, insects, fragments of conversation, or strange little moments that most people might overlook can all become the starting point for a new piece. Her work often finds beauty in places that feel messy, ordinary, or slightly absurd, transforming them into compositions that feel vibrant, layered, and unexpectedly emotional.

That balance between detail and disorder is what makes the work feel especially distinctive. Britta describes her aesthetic as “beautiful chaos,” pieces that are visually rich and expressive without becoming overly polished. There’s always some scribbling woven into the work somewhere, some looseness that keeps the art feeling playful and alive. Even her florals rarely stay traditional for long, often winding their way around insects or colliding with unexpected textures and imagery.

Despite having bountiful access to desks, drafting tables, and proper studio setups, Britta almost always creates on the floor surrounded by scattered materials, sketchbooks, paints, and brainstormed ideas. It’s where she feels most connected to the work and where her creative process naturally settles into flow.
