Rachel Eaton

Needle Ghosts began when Rachel Eaton decided she needed more Halloween decorations and figured she might as well make them herself. Her handmade ghosts quickly became favorites among friends and family, who encouraged her to turn the idea into a business. What started as a seasonal decorating project has since grown into a collection of needle-felted ghosts with hobbies, interests, and personalities of their own, each one carrying a little piece of their life into the great beyond.

Every ghost is made primarily from wool, with a few novelty details created by Rachel or sourced from artists around the country. The needle felting process gives each character its own shape and personality, but the real magic happens with the eyes. Rachel considers them the most important detail, using each ghost’s expression to bring its particular personality to life.

What makes Needle Ghosts unmistakably Rachel is the willingness to not take the ghosts too seriously. The more closely you examine their hobbies and little stories, the less sense they sometimes make, which is exactly the point. Rachel and her husband create the ghosts together in their living room, gathering inspiration while watching TV and filling every corner of their home that isn’t occupied by baby toys with pieces of whatever they’re dreaming up next. It’s a practice built around making something strange, funny, and genuinely joyful.
