Meet

Julia Gasner

Julia Gasner Designs is rooted in a childhood spent on Block Island, where days were shaped by bare feet in the sand, long walks along Crescent Beach, and the quiet ritual of collecting stones, shells, and small treasures shaped by the tide. Those early experiences built a deep connection to place and material, and they continue to inform the work today. Each piece reflects a way of noticing what the ocean leaves behind and carrying those moments forward.

The jewelry is made using a thoughtful mix of repurposed, vintage, and found materials. Old family charms, inherited jewelry, and vintage beads are paired with island found shells, stones, and sea glass collected on Block Island. Many of the stones are drilled by hand using a diamond bit tool, allowing their natural shapes and imperfections to remain part of the final design. Every piece is wire wrapped and assembled with fourteen karat gold filled and sterling silver components, giving the work durability alongside its softness.

In addition to her core collections, Julia offers a Charm Bar where customers can create custom pieces assembled by hand. Initials, fish, hearts, pearls, birthstones, and other symbolic charms are combined into necklaces and bracelets that feel personal and intentional, often marking a memory, person, or place. The process invites collaboration and turns jewelry into something layered with meaning.

The identity of Julia Gasner Designs is closely tied to travel, family, and the natural surroundings of Block Island. Growing up in a family of creators and jewelers made jewelry feel like a natural language from an early age. Over time, what began as a hobby has grown into a practice shaped by curiosity, storytelling, and a continued exploration of materials and techniques.

Julia currently creates her work between Boston and her parents’ home on Block Island, working out of small, evolving studio setups as she looks toward expanding into a more dedicated space. Each setting brings its own rhythm, whether assembling pieces indoors or gathering inspiration from the shoreline.
