Abstract paintings and textured works inspired by movement, intuition, and the natural world.
At first glance, Denise’s work is all about texture. An abstract artist based in Massachusetts, she returned to painting during COVID after years away from her practice. What began as a personal reconnection with creativity soon became a steady exploration of materials, community, and the many ways an artwork can evolve through experimentation.
Denise works across canvas, paper, ornament pieces, and hand painted silk. She uses acrylic, ink, and oil stick, often incorporating texture built from materials found in her home or in nature. Her canvases are especially known for their signature tulle layers, a detail that adds depth and dimensional softness to each piece.
Every artwork begins in her home studio, a former dining room transformed into a warm, dedicated space for making. It is where surfaces are built, dried, reworked, and revisited, and where Denise lets her materials guide the next direction a piece will take.
What gives her work its unmistakable feel is the way her textures come together. Each piece holds movement, quiet complexity, and an intuitive sense of balance that reflects her process-driven approach to abstraction.
