Wall Flowers (Spongeflower 3: Digi Soda)
The Wall Flower series blends Baroque ornament, underwater fragments, and the wacky and recognizable charm of Spongebob flowers. Each form begins as a digital model that I sculpt in 3D software, then print in stoneware clay before sending it through a range of atmospheric firings—pit fire, soda gas, and low-fire gas reduction. Wrapped in glazes and combustible materials, the pieces pick up unpredictable markings as flame, ash, and vapor move across their surfaces.
These processes create the crusty, layered textures that define the series—part relic, part ornament, part abstract bloom.
Because each one is uniquely handmade and shaped by the spontaneity of the kiln, they all vary in size, form, and surface, giving every Wall Flower its own distinct character.
Each Wall Flower comes with a tiny air plant, so you can display it with or without the greenery. To care for the plant, give it a brief soak or a light mist once a week, and keep it in bright, indirect light—it’s low-maintenance but benefits from a little regular attention.
